Shon
Master Shon began his Tae kwon Do training in 1972 and has
over 36 years of experience teaching martial arts to children
and adults of all ages and ability levels.
Master Shon holds a 6th degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and
4th degree Black Belt in Hapkido. Tae Kwon Do has been Master
Shon's life passion, and as a high school and college student
he was 5 times the Korean national champion in high school
and college. Educated with a Physical Education degree from
Myong Ji University in Seoul, Master Shon became the Head
Coach for the University's Tae Kwon Do team.
Master Shon has helped spread the popularity of the martial
arts in Beverly Hills, CA. He was a private instructor for
Oscar winner Nicolas Cage and his family, as well as the comedian-actor
David Allen Greer and actor Michael Beech. He also served
as part of Jackie Chan's stunt team. Master Shon has experience
with other martial arts such as Aikido and Kendo.
For
his dedication and to the martial arts and the advancement
of Tae Kwon Do as an international sport, Master Shon has
received various awards. In 1988, he received the President's
Athletic Award. In 2002, Governor Gary Locke awarded Master
Shon for his contribution to the 2002 Governors cup.
Master
Shon opened his Tae Know Do dojang in 1998 and now operates
two additional dojangs in Auburn and Lakewood. He is committed
to the advancement of the martial arts as a means to personal
improvement and as a family activity in the service of the
community. |
